Awali Golf Club is a desert course situated at the southern part of Bahrain Island, The Southern Governorate. It is boldly the oldest golf club in the Arabian Gulf area and maybe the oldest in the entire Middle East. Awali Golf Club has 70 par 18-holes desert golf course which measures 6309 yards. Desert landscape forms this unique and challenging golf course.
The clubhouse is at the top part of the rim that forms the basin within which the course lies. From the terrace of the clubhouse there as opening the panoramic view of the course landscape, which clearly shows the tree lined 10th and 18th fairways. The clubhouse also offers views of the 1st, 7th, teeing grounds and fairways, and the 6th, 9th, and 18th, greens.
Hole #1 "Good Fore" is a 376 yard par 4 hole with an out of bounds area and a water hazard on the left. The brown is situated on raised ground and slopes back towards the fairway. The hole 2 is 331 yards par 4 hole, which fairway is protected on both sides by trees. Hole #3 calling "Long Carry", is 412 yard par 4 hole, which is situated on the perimeter of the golf course. The most interest is the fourth hole, named "Cardiac", because of the climb needed to reach the tee box of this 109 yard par three hole. So it can cause a lot of players some heartache. Hole 5 is 517 yard par five hole which doglegs to the right. Its tee box is located above the wide fairway which is straight up to the corner. Between the 10th and the 18th there is tree line and a road. The 10th hole is a straight 416 yard par 4 hole. The tee box is raised above the fairway and looks over the driving range on the right and the 18th fairway on the left. Hole #18 is 489 yards long and it is the only par 5 hole on the incoming half of the course. A slice off the tee will cause you some problems as 'Out of Bounds' is almost the full length of the right side of the fairway.
