The course is situated between the Beskydy Mountains? two highest mountains - Lys? hora and Smrk - at the foot of ??r Hill, in the village of Ostravice. It is a parkland-type championship golf course. The course PAR is 72. The very first holes give the impression of a very open course, however, don?t let that get you confused… The designer and constructor of the course is Chris Johnson, who has designed many courses in Europe and Africa. The investor and the whole team involved in the construction made an effort to built a course comparable to the latest championship courses in advanced European golf. That includes location selection, course shaping, playing area full irrigation, strictly tested and inspected building material, large greens, 3 ha of water, five spacious tees (teeing grounds) at each hole, special seeds, etc.
The golf course in Ostravice is situated on the slopes of a glacial valley through which a river flows and which is fringed by mountaintops of the Moravian mountains. The course has been designed to be top quality – all its holes will meet international standards for a championship course. Greens have been designed in accordance with USGA?s recommendations for green construction; naturally, top quality material was used.
However, it is the landscape variety, created by Nature, which makes the Ostravice course unique. There are mountain streams running through the golf course here, which we have been able to extend by a series of ponds and cascades (the streams are led to a single water area of about 25 000 m?), and a large original mixed forest 60 to 80 years old. This landscape variety gave us the possibility of creating a unique character for each hole; there is no monotony here. From the first stroke to the last put, every golf player will experience here a feeling of impatience and eagerness as well as an uncertainty of what the next hole will be like.
You can find here holes with open fairways (featuring an undulating landscape character) and holes surrounded by roughs covered by fescue. And holes at which water elements, connected through streams and cascades, as well as forest holes where we, when designing the clearing, tried to preserve the most dominant trees.
This course will be a challenge to a wide range of golf players – from beginners through medium HCP players to professionals.
Training areas include a driving range almost 300 m long. 13 covered, spacious teeing boxes are available here. The driving range is suitable for training striking directly from a grass base. Other training areas include a putting and a large chipping green, in the vicinity of which you can find plenty of obstructions to train a short stroke to the green. The specialty of training areas is a training hole, at which you can successfully train the second or the third stroke from different positions from 80m to 140m, directed to the green.
